چکیده
PurposeThis study aims to evaluate the fluctuation of serum Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) in patients who are post-HeartMate 3 (HM3) Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation and determine if routine monitoring LDH values has changed management patients, outcomes, or detected any pump thrombosis events.MethodsThis is a retrospective cohort reviewing electronic medical records forty-eight HM3 LVAD at tertiary care center New Jersey, USA with implant dates ranging from 2017 2021. For each these were obtained including baseline pre-implantation as well fixed points time post-operatively, specifically one week, month, three months, six year, half years, two years post-implantation applicable for patient. Each abnormal value underwent further chart analysis see there was change clinical status, management, event. An defined greater than 2.5 times upper limit normal, which been standard practice and/or hemolysis.ResultsChart review showed that did not outcomes patients. Forty-six out have recorded normal post-implantation. The elevated post-operatively never stable enough be discharged hospital expired shortly after implantation. There also 0% rate thrombosis.ConclusionRoutine post-HM3 does asymptomatic Therefore, ending eliminates unnecessary blood draws could represent savings healthcare costs resources. This events. hemolysis. Chart thrombosis. Routine

Chronic LDH Elevation after Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation
A 61-year-old woman who underwent HeartMate II left ventricular assist device placement for non-ischemic cardiomyopathy developed elevated lactate dehydrogenase within two weeks after implantation. After eight months of observation and several hospital admissions during which there was no evidence of pump thrombosis, she presented with clinically manifest hemolysis. During pump exchange there w...
متن کاملComparison of left ventricular geometry after HeartMate II and HeartWare left ventricular assist device implantation
BACKGROUND HeartMate II (HM II) and HeartWare (HW) Left Ventricular Assist Devices have been successfully used in end-stage heart failure patients as a bridge to transplantation, recovery, or decision. We set out to compare their effect in off-loading the left ventricle and its geometry. METHODS The left ventricular end diastolic (LVEDD) and end systolic (LVESD) diameters were compared betwee...
متن کاملVentricular arrhythmias after left ventricular assist device implantation.
BACKGROUND Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) have been used as a bridge to cardiac transplantation and as destination therapy in patients with advanced heart failure. The period after LVAD support is associated with ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) despite ventricular unloading and such VAs can have a detrimental effect on survival. Despite the increasing use of LVAD, little is known regardi...
متن کاملSurgical technique influences HeartMate II left ventricular assist device thrombosis.
BACKGROUND Thrombosis of the HeartMate II (HM2 [Thoratec Corporation, Pleasanton, CA]) is a potentially devastating complication. While attention has been focused on anticoagulation strategies to prevent this complication, the impact of surgical technique has not been assessed. METHODS Patients undergoing HM2 implantation at two institutions were reviewed. Pump thrombosis (PT) was defined as ...
